You're not broke. You're just living in one of the most expensive countries in the world. I'm from Canada. Canada is I think it is one of the most expensive countries in the world. America's got super expensive and I want to explain to you how you can retire early and do it not in a motivational way, but in a
mathematical way. And I did this. I left at 35. I left Canada. I took my money and I went to the country of Ecuador.
But there's so many great countries. There's Vietnam, Cambodia, Colombia, Peru. Pick your poison. It doesn't matter. They're all around a similar mark and even though the cost of living is a lot lower, you're not getting less. You're actually getting more. Think of it more like you're investing into a stock that
has a lot of value, but you're buying cheap because you're getting better food when you're here. You're getting amazing accommodation. You're not living in some little hovel in some community that has no beauty around it. I literally bought a piece of land, my first piece of land here in Ecuador for 50 grand with an
amazing view of the ocean and one of the most touristy towns in the country. Imagine if you're from Canada that you bought in Bath with an incredible view.
Imagine that. In America, Aspen. I bought another piece of land in the most desirable location here on the coast, 50 m from the beach for $40,000.
Just try to comprehend that. You're in Whistler and you buy a piece of land in front of the mountain for $40,000. And it's not that it costs less. It's just you're getting a bigger bang for your buck in so many ways. You got to think about what wealth is.
And this really hit me hard cuz when I was in Canada, I was making the most money last year. The most money I've ever made was last year and it really, really I was miserable. I just remember I'd wake up at 5:30, I'd stare at the ceiling, I'd say I hate my life, and then at night I'd finish watching
Netflix, go back to bed, stare at that same ceiling, and say I hate my life. And I was making good money, so clearly that's not wealth if you're miserable.
And that's one of those great realizations that you have about, "Hey, I'm clocking in, I'm clocking out, I'm just looking at my life just pass me by, and every day it just feels like Groundhog Day, and this is not the life I want. And there has to be something better. I have to make a change." And I
made that change. I went to the country of Ecuador. Now, Ecuador, this place to me is what freedom is. I get to overlook this ocean here. There are places here on the beach for sale.
You have fresh food. Oh my god, the food. That's one of the main things that has really been bothering me about being back at home, is now we have all this printed meat. Like, this is the funny conundrum is, I'm in a third world country and these people eat better than people in the first world country. They
