Level up your Englishwith Youtube

Train your listening on real speech and build vocabulary from the videos you watch anyway. Klara syncs the captions, explains a word right in the line where it was said, and helps you work on pronunciation.

Take words apart right inside the video — where they were said — and carry them through to active use.

It could come across as simple and be infinitely deep at the same time.
come across/kʌm əˈkrɒs/
to seem, to be perceived

Here “come across” means “to seem” or “to be perceived”. Klara reads the whole line instead of listing the separate senses of a word.

Tap a word — and take it apart in context

The captions run with the video. Pick a word or an expression to see what it means in this very line.

truly, genuinely

It strengthens the speaker’s wish: “I really do want to”.

Understanding a phrase is not the same as translating words

You hear real speech, see it in the captions and take apart the part you did not catch without leaving the video.

  1. Watch and listen

The captions are synced to the speech, which makes it easier to follow exactly what the speaker is saying.

  2. Take it apart in context

Tap an unfamiliar word or expression — Klara shows what it means in this very line, not just a list of dictionary translations.

  3. Practise real speech

Dictation and shadowing use the same speaker’s voice: you learn to understand live speech by ear, not a studio recording from a textbook, and work on pronunciation with the same video you have just watched.

  4. Remember for the long run

Saved words and expressions come back in lessons and reviews, and the service picks the time of the next review itself: what comes easily is asked less often. Premium can export the cards to Anki.

Pick whatever interests you: interviews, podcasts, lectures, reviews, popular science, talks, vlogs or any other English-language YouTube video.

You can start for free

What is worth knowing

Three answers before you open your first video.

Which videos will work?

English-language YouTube videos with available captions — written by the author or generated by YouTube. Without captions Klara cannot build the interactive transcript.

Where does the recording of my voice go?

Nowhere. During shadowing the recording stays on your device and is never uploaded to the server.

What is available for free?

The whole gallery, the player, the transcript, the meanings of words in context and the dictionary — with no time limit. Plus the analysis of one video of your own, forever.

What does a subscription cost, and will it renew on its own?

Premium — 890 ₽ a month, Pro — 1 690 ₽. The payment is one-off for the chosen period: there is no auto-renewal, nothing is charged on its own. The longer the period, the cheaper the month.

What counts against the plan hours?

Only video nobody has analysed before you: 20 hours a month on Premium, 40 on Pro. A video someone has already analysed opens free and spends no hours.

What exactly is behind a paid plan?

The trainer in full — the video lesson, dictation, shadowing — plus caption translation, in-context word explanation, scheduled reviews, channel subscriptions and Anki export and import. Watching, reading the transcript, opening word meanings and building your dictionary are free.

Do I decide when a word comes back for review?

The service picks the moment from your answers, and it also decides what counts as learned. Nobody counts or brings up missed days: there are no streaks here that would be a shame to break.

What shall we watch in English?

Paste a YouTube link. Klara will fetch the available captions and sync them to the video so you can listen to the speech and take words apart as you watch.

Adding a new video needs an account. The first analysis is free.
